Salvation Army’s 20th Annual Flower Power Gala Raises $600,000
On August 2, the Design Center Galleria became a floral wonderland for The Salvation Army’s 20th Annual Flower Power Gala, which aims to end homelessness. The evening raised over $600,000 to aid The Salvation Army’s recovery-focused initiative, The Way Out.
The event, chaired by Leslie Bauer, featured a passionate speech from Mayor London Breed, floral exhibits and a silent auction, with honoree and AT&T Director of External Affairs Cammy Blackstone receiving the Woman of Dedication award. “As pillars of San Francisco, serving the most vulnerable, The Salvation Army is part of the reason why I believe in San Francisco,” said Blackstone. “From our seniors to the children and families who live in our city and to our unhoused neighbors, they have been busy serving those in need.”
Attendees, including Rob Stobo, Anne Kaiser and Flower Power committee member Azin Massoudi Richa, checked out the interactive floral display created by Jün Piñon. Supervisors Ahsha Safaí and Matt Dorsey presented the organization with a certificate honoring its dedication to the cause and the annual event before a spirited dance party put on by Adam Swig’s nonprofit, Value Culture.
