What is World Services & Self-Denial?

World Services encompasses the global religious and social service programs of The Salvation Army. These initiatives are made possible through the generous, voluntary contributions of Salvationists and supporters who participate in Self-Denial.

Self-Denial has been a core practice in The Salvation Army since 1886, allowing Salvationists to give sacrificially and joyfully to support those in need worldwide. Regardless of financial status, Salvationists around the globe participate in this effort, recognizing our shared role as the global Church, partnering with God to serve His mission on earth.

The World Services & Self-Denial Appeal is a year-round effort that includes education, public awareness, prayer, and fundraising to sustain The Salvation Army’s worldwide ministry. As an act of Christian stewardship, officers and soldiers are encouraged to give sacrificially, ensuring the continuation of vital programs and services in other countries.

Does my Self-Denial giving to World Services make a difference?

Absolutely! Your contributions to World Services directly support The Salvation Army’s mission to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and meet human needs across the world. The funds raised through the Self-Denial Appeal provide essential resources to sustain and expand The Salvation Army’s ministry.

Your giving helps strengthen the spiritual mission, organizational capacity, and infrastructure of The Salvation Army, enabling communities to address key needs such as education, healthcare, clean water, income generation, and human trafficking prevention.

In many parts of the world, The Salvation Army’s ministries would not be able to function without the financial support provided through Self-Denial. Your prayers and contributions play a vital role in sustaining and expanding this global mission as The Salvation Army continues to establish new ministries in additional countries.

These materials can be downloaded, printed, or ordered free of charge for USA Western Territory corps, ARCs, and centers.
