The Salvation Army Advisory Board Taskforce on Homelessness shall maximize the Army’s efforts to address and alleviate homelessness in Los Angeles County by focusing on five key areas.

Strategy

Working hand-in-hand with Salvation Army officers and staff to advise on the best strategic options to engage with city and county officials in their fight to alleviate homelessness in Los Angeles County.

   Awareness

Raising awareness of Salvation Army homelessness programs as examples of best practices among key influencer demographics (e.g., tours with Gruel, Ryu etc.)

Growing Public Sector Partnerships

Working with senior members of the public sector to advance project-based solutions to homelessness problems (e.g., Project Roomkey)

Expanding Private Sector Collaborations

Collaborating with private sector thought leaders to develop logistical and financial strategies to complement the public sector discussions (e.g., CBRE, Gensler)

 Building New Bridges

Extending the reach of the Army in homelessness by partnering with like-minded charitable organizations and entities that are engaging in best practices (e.g., The Red Cross, Los Angeles Mission, Union Rescue Mission, MOU with Baby2Baby to provide supplies for homeless children at SA facilities, etc.)

Homelessness can happen to anyone.

With one in six people living in poverty today, housing insecurity is not limited to a certain “type” of person.
