The Salvation Army gives pay increase to shelter workers

Mar 25, 2020 | by The Salvation Army

The Salvation Army has increased wages for employees working in shelters and on the front lines of serving those affected by COVID-19. This is a move not typically seen by nonprofits, but The Salvation Army leadership team in Denver felt it was important during this time of crisis.

The Salvation Army continues to provide traditional social services to those we serve, including food and shelter.

Community members are welcome to stop by any of The Salvation Army’s six Corps Community Centers in Denver Metro to receive a food box from 10am-3pm Monday – Friday. The Salvation Army is practicing social distancing and offers no-contact when receiving the box. To get additional help or learn more about the options, the public can call 855-768-7977.

The Salvation Army will continue to keep our doors open to help our community. Our housing and shelter programs will remain open. In line with our mission and brand promise of Doing the Most Good, the health and wellbeing of those we serve and our staff are our highest priorities. As the threat of infection approaches our clients, we are taking extra measures to sanitize and make our facilities safe.

“The Salvation Army wants front-line workers to feel appreciated, valued and supported in their efforts to address this crisis,” says Kristen Baluyot, The Salvation Army Denver Metro Social Services Director. “I am incredibly thankful for all that they are doing to carry on and embrace these challenges.”

Individuals we serve daily will feel the impacts of this crisis on a greater level. The Salvation Army is in desperate need of food and financial assistance to be able to provide these vulnerable populations with adequate support throughout this pandemic.
