Walmart's Stuff the Bus Back to School Event a Great Success
Thank you to Walmart and the greater Alaskan community for your generosity in supporting the Stuff the/Bus Back to School - school supply drive for children throughout the state. Each year items are purchased and donated to The Salvation Army to help children starting a new school year feel confident and organized for the year ahead. These valuable resources allow them to be productive and remain focused on learning.
“At our Back to School Shopping Spree, each child (0‐high school) received 3 outfits, 2 pairs of shoes, 2 books, and school supplies. We served 138 kids from 44 families, almost doubling our numbers from last year. While parents shopped, we entertained their kiddos with carnival games, Sunday School activities, and led a time of decision where five children accepted Jesus! A lot of people in the community were very excited and thankful that we held the event. ” ‐ Lt. Brandon Kyle, Kenai, Alaska Corps
Local children of Fairbanks were blessed by the backpacks and school supplies as well. "Major Shevaun Malone greeted everyone at the door... and they were all so excited and thankful to select each item and put it in their new backpack. Parents were so happy and blessed." Lt. Andrea Finch - Fairbanks, Alaska Corps.
