Closing out 2016
As the year comes to an end, our hearts turn to a time of thanksgiving and reflection. Everyone at The Salvation Army is thankful for the generosity of everyone who gave of their time, energy, money, and love. The contributions of our volunteers, donors, and friends have helped us meet the needs of families and individuals throughout our community with food, clothing, shelter, youth and senior services, disaster response and other vital necessities.
Thanks to the people who invest in our efforts, The Salvation Army was able to assist thousands of people through our Corps Community Centers, and several of The Salvation Army Programs like McKinnell House and Family Services, Older Alaska Programs, Clitheroe Center, Adult Rehabilitation Center, Emergency Disaster Services, King’s Lake Camp, and Serendipity Adult Day Services.
How you can help:
One full month of Serendipity Services costs $1,110, two days a week for a year at Serendipity costs $5,200; helping us defray these costs gives families of adults with cognitive impairments the peace of mind that their loved ones are well-cared for.
Contributing to one week of camp for ten children is $2.000 and building a new Camp Cabin is $15,000; Camp allows children from around the state to experience the world around them while growing closer to God.
In the event of a disaster emergency it takes around $1,000 to provide two hundred meals for first-responders and survivors. Supplying our Emergency Disaster Services mobile canteen for a year costs $6,000.
As you know, The Salvation Army works hard to ensure that as much of your gift as possible goes directly to those in our care. 100% of your donation will stay local and go towards any program(s) you specify, helping to carry us not only during the holiday season, but through the new year. Your donations could also make you eligible for membership in our Red Shield Society.
We at The Salvation Army pray that 2016 has been good to you and to those you love. May the new year bring even more blessings to you, your family, and to those we are able to serve each year because of your generous support.
