Community Centers

The Salvation Army Community Centers in the LA Metro area are recreation centers that serves the youth, family and senior population of Los Angeles. Community Centers are important programs that serve a community with a severe need for after-school youth development services, especially during the crucial hours when school is out and parents are absent from home. They are places where people young and old will have opportunities to learn and grow, to build dreams and friendships, and to find sanctuary and hope. From first-time swimmers to experienced athletes, The Salvation Army Community Centers in the LA Metro area has something for you. 

The Red Shield Youth Center

Located on Union and 11th Street, the L.A. Red Shield serves the local community through a multifaceted program that includes a pool, gym, group exercise studio, dance studio, game room, computer lab, stage and performing arts space, gathering spaces and more. The community center offers tutoring in math, reading and writing; computer education; recreational swim and swim lessons; and sports, including basketball and soccer leagues.

Siemon Youth & Family Center

The 36,903 sq. ft. community center located on S. Central Avenue and 76th Place (near Florence Avenue) serves the local community through a multifaceted program that includes a family services component, a licensed daycare center, chapel and the youth center. The youth center offers tutoring in math, reading and writing; computer education, instruction in the arts (visual arts, dance); and sports, including basketball and soccer leagues. Additionally, the facility features a library, computer lab with 30 terminals, classrooms, gymnasium, fitness center, and an art studio.
