Dick Haggerty
Dick was born in Tacoma Washington but has lived the last 53 years in Stanislaus County. He continues to be active in the business world and spends considerable time on community and charitable boards and work with the poor.
After ten years in public accounting, he entered into the real estate development business in Central California, creating a variety of quality projects with an emphasis on single family lot development for builders. In his career he has developed some 10,000 residential lots.
He also has founded and is active in a number of other local businesses, acting as one of the principal owners, corporate officer and providing supervisory overview of administration. These entities include Modesto Steel Co. Inc. (48 years), Modesto Welding Products, Inc. (47 years), Great Valley Real Estate (12 years) and Windward Pacific Builders (10 years).
He has chaired a local seminary board in Modesto where he also taught church administration classes and he taught accounting and management courses at California State University Stanislaus for three years. He continues to present occasional lectures at the university and also conducts management seminars for various non-profit charities. He mentors extensively for the Salvation Army where he serves on the National Board.
Active in veterans’ advocacy having two years of honorable service aboard the U. S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Boxer.
