Gloria had been living in her car for four months. In tears, she finally came to The Salvation Army for help. Bethany, the Social Service Director, welcomed her and helped her overcome the hurdles keeping Gloria from getting by. Bethany helped Gloria get her social security card, a mental health counselor and get on the Section 8 waitlist. They prayed together, asking God to open doors and provide housing and income.
Gloria later came back to thank Bethany because she finally found housing. She brought in a card that said, “Sometimes kindness is a small gesture that makes all the difference in the world. Your thoughtfulness is appreciated so very much…Thank you for all your help and support. You helped me through a very hard time. I couldn’t have done it without you….With Love, Gloria.”
Bethany looked at her and said, “Isn’t this what we asked God to do? God didn’t forget about you, Gloria. He is providing for you.” Gloria teared up and nodded her head and gave Bethany a hug.
