National Donut Day 2022

Jun 3, 2022

Happy National Donut Day!

Donuts do more than taste good: they can actually do good. In fact, history was made when dedicated Salvation Army volunteers sought to raise spirits and fuel hope by risking their lives to deliver thousands of sweet treats during wartime.

The Salvation Army National Donut Day was created to honor The Salvation Army’s ‘doughnut lassies,’ who braved the front lines to bake treats and boost morale for soldiers during World War I. The donut was then, and still continues to be, a taste of home and a symbol of comfort for Americans. Taste for yourself: find the original donut recipe below and more history lessons of the humble donut.
